Endemic Species in Taiwan Forum (Taiwan Environmental Education Dialogue, TEED)

The forum is organized by the Environmental Quality Protection Foundation (EQPF) and is sponsored by the ASE Cultural & Educational Foundation. Taiwan is located between the tropics and subtropics area – a complex terrain. Separated from Mainland China by the strait, many species migrated into Taiwan in the glacier era or drifted with the sea over Taiwan. These species evolved into unique creatures through interactions with the environment over time. To what extent do we understand these species? For the first time, Ecologists, Environmental Impact Assessment Committee members and governors gather together to talk about the importance of endemic species like bats, fireflies, crabs, and lichens in Taiwan and the challenges posed by human development to the environment.
