Overview

Education builds public trust and awareness for protecting the environment.

In line with UN SDG 4 ("ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all") and SDG 13 ("take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts"), ASE has formulated an integrated educational program to promote key climate topics. We support industry-academia collaborations and direct our resources to educate — and receive feedback on — actions to protect the environment and mitigate climate change.

Educational outreach

Our Sustainable Development Center reaches every part of the community.

The ASE Sustainable Development Center, established with the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), promotes environmental education for the elderly, grassroots volunteers, young families and youths. Between 2014 and 2017 more than 7,000 individuals took part. In 2018 we introduced ecological environmental education and integrated the UN SDGs into the center's curriculum. In 2021 "Sustainable Urban and Rural Planning" was launched to encourage local schools to explore innovative, sustainable community projects.

Technology & research

We research environmental technology with academia and share it openly.

Since 2014, ASE has collaborated with several academic institutions on environmental technology including water, waste, air pollution and noise. Projects range from operational issues — improving organic exhaust, waste-liquid treatment, VOC reduction and resource recycling — to corporate sustainability and the circular economy. We regularly invite industry peers and environmental groups to expert forums to share findings, exchange ideas and present widely applicable solutions.
