ASE Receives 2003 Strategic Awards from Agere Systems

Santa Clara, California, Dec 11, 2003 – Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASE, TAIEX: 2311, NYSE: ASX), one of the world’s largest semiconductor packaging and testing companies, announced today that it has received a Strategic Supplier Award from Agere Systems (NYSE: AGR.A, AGR.B). ASE was one of fifteen winners selected from hundreds of supplier candidates to be recognized as having the most strategic products and services to support Agere’s long-term corporate objectives. Agere will present the award to ASE at its Lehigh Valley Central Campus in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
